Topic: A Rule That’s Important in Your School or WorkPart 2 (Cue Card): Describe a rule that is important in your school or work.You should say:- What the rule is about- What happens when people break the rule- Why you think it is an important rule- And explain how you feel about the ruleWell, I can"t really think of a good one in my work at the moment, but one that I very clearly remember from when I was at school was the rule that we weren"t allowed to have our shirts untucked.So we always had to look smart, we always had to have our shirt on, our tie done up as tight as possible, our top button tied, and most importantly, our shirt tucked in.So anyone who went around the school with their shirt untucked had the possibility to get a detention or like many different types of punishment.So it was something that at the time, I think we were all quite annoyed about. We felt it was overly strict.But looking back, I think it"s important for people in authority to set those kind of rules. You kind of draw a line in the sand and say, okay, this is the standard that we"re going to set, and anyone who crosses it will face serious consequences.And yeah, when people broke the rule, generally they would get a detention, or they would have to write lines or get some other kind of punishment.And yeah, I think at the time we all felt like it was a little bit over the top. But looking back, I would rather have been in a school like that where everything was quite strictly controlled, but there was very little opportunity for things like bullying or anything dangerous, any violence, compared to a school where I was allowed to go with my shirt untucked, but there was the chance to face violence in the playground.So overall, I think it was probably for the best.
