=learn whose rate of speed can be set or regulated by the students themselves

中文含義：學(xué)生可以自己控制進(jìn)度的學(xué)習(xí)

eg. Self-paced distance learning offers students convenience and flexibility.

學(xué)生可以自己控制進(jìn)度的遠(yuǎn)程學(xué)習(xí)方式給了學(xué)生們更多的便捷和靈活性。

core curriculum

=the set of common courses that are required of all students

中文含義：核心課程

eg. The core curriculum provides the necessary general education for students, irrespective of(不管，不涉及)their fields of interest.

核心課程為為學(xué)生提供了無(wú)論其興趣愛(ài)好，每個(gè)人都必須掌握的基礎(chǔ)的教育。

 

6.meet one’s expectations

=be as good as expected

中文含義：打到某人的預(yù)期

eg. His academic performance failed to meet his parents’ expectations.

他的學(xué)習(xí)*沒(méi)有達(dá)到他父母的預(yù)期。

=be disappointing to someone

中文含義：未能達(dá)到某人的預(yù)期

eg. Jamie kept falling short of my expectations.

2）cannot be guaranteed success

=There is no assurance that something will be a success.

中文含義：（某事物）未必一定會(huì)成功或者有效

eg. So far no teaching methods can be guaranteed success.

= a person whom someone admires and whose behavior and attitudes he/she tries to copy

中文含義：榜樣

eg. My elderly brother has always been a role model for me.

我哥哥一直是我心中的榜樣。

=encourage or inspire people to do the same thing as one does

中文含義：為別人樹立榜樣

eg. His dad was always telling him to set a good example for his younger brother.

Promote equality

=ensure the same conditions, possibilities and rights

中文含義：促進(jìn)（學(xué)生之間的）平等

eg. Some people believe that uniforms can promote equality and encourage better behavior at school.

=discourage qualities that make someone or something different from all others

中文含義：壓制個(gè)性

eg. School uniforms may repress individuality and deny students the freedom of choice.
