15. 幫你學(xué)外語的工具Part 2Describe something that helped you learn a language 描述一個幫助你學(xué)外語的東西You should say:What it isWhat language you learnedHow it helped you learn the languageAnd how you felt about it示范答案：Well, I guess the English songs really facilitated my language learning in my childhood. To the best of my recollection, it was when I was in my primary school. Our teacher just walked us through the ABC of English grammar. We learned the past tense of English. But it was so difficult for me to memorize all the irregular verbs. I tried to learn them by rote, but they were absolutely over my head. So my teacher recommended an English song called seasons in the sun. I took a liking to it instantly since it was melodious. And most importantly, there are a lot of irregular verbs in the lyrics. And some of them are the irregular verbs that haunted me. I couldn"t help but listen to that song non-stop. And I even hummed a lot along to it unconsciously because it was so catchy. One thing special about this song was its parallelism. The three parts of the song had the same structure. The predicates were the same while subjects changed from his friend, his dad to his beloved girl. And the predicates, i. e. the verbs appeared repeatedly which really reinforced my memory. This song worked like a charm and helped me remember all the vocabulary. Plus, I learned some idioms like the black sheep, which means a family member regarded as a disgrace. So listening to English songs has become a very useful way for me to learn the language. It"s full of light-hearted fun but so effective. Part 31. What difficulties do people face when learning a language?Well, I guess memorizing the vocabulary is the biggest obstacle that people need to overcome. Words can lay the foundation for a language. So you have to remember at least 4000 words to master a language. Another difficulty is that some languages have strange grammatical structure. Like in Japanese, the verb is at the end of the sentence, which requires you to rewire your brain and get used to it.2. Do you think language learning is important? Why?Absolutely, it is very essential. For starters, you can get the first hand information if you master a language. You know, something is always lost in translation. On top of that, you can have an edge when you are bilingual, especially when you land a job in some multinationals. Also, it is said that learning a language makes you more creative by exercising your brain.3. Which is better? to study alone or to study in a group?It"s hard to generalize and it can vary from person to person. For some people, they can concentrate when they study alone. They consider other people as a major distraction. But for some people, they like to study with others, especially learning a language. They can have an oral practice with each other whenever they want.
