34. 本國(guó)名人Part 2Describe a popular / well-known person in your country 描述你們國(guó)家的一位名人You should say : Who this person is What he or she has done Why he she is popular And explaining how you feel about this person示范答案：I"d like to talk about Eileen Gu, the 18-year-old freestyle skier who was born in San Francisco but represented China at this year"s Winter Olympics.  As a professional skier, Eileen won gold medals with two high-scoring tricks, one of which she had never attempted in competition before. She is the only female free skier to win every major pro-level event, including, world cup, Xgames, world champions and Olympics. She is well-known not just for her numerous achievements in the international skiing competitions, but also for her ability to excel in all aspects of what she does. She is a fashion model, and a straight-A student who received an offer from Stanford University with a nearly perfect score. I admire her courage, confidence, and her attitude towards life. She"s constantly trying to convey a message that she is dedicated to achieving her goal. She has become a household name in China. She not only serves as a perfect role model for female athletes in China, but also raise the profile of skiing in my country where it is still a relatively new activity.Part 31.What kinds of people are popular at work?Well, I guess it"s really hard to generalize. From the perspective of the boss, of course those who are good at their work could win the favor. They are popular because they can generate the profit. But from the perspective of the fellow colleagues, those who excel in their work may be envied. Instead, those mediocre ones will be popular among the peers, because he or she posts no threat to the others.2.Are bosses more popular than employees at work?Definitely not. Bosses are always subject to the slings and arrows of verbal abuse from the subordinates, mainly due to the wrong strategies and lack of authority. For the most part, the bosses will be flattered, but not be liked. The subordinates are just licking the boot of the bosses instead of liking them from the bottom of their heart.3.Which one is more important, maintaining a good relationship with colleagues or doing well at work?Absolutely the latter one, because excellence at work is the most important factor that will determine your promotion and salary. We work because we have to earn the bread and provide for our families, instead of earning the favor of our peer colleagues. The colleagues will forget you once you leave your job. But your excellence at work can build up your resume and help you land a better job.4.What benefits are there when a child is popular at school?Well, there are a lot of merits, but the most apparent one is that the child can build up the self esteem and confidence. By and large, a popular child is good at communicating and negotiating. So when they grow up, they are more competent to shoulder the responsibility of a leader.
